The foreign trade volume in Turkish Lira exceeded 437 billion liras

In the first 5 months of the year, foreign trade in Turkish Lira increased by 52.9 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 437 billion 445 million liras

According to the data from the Ministry of Trade, in May, the highest monthly export value in the history of the Republic was reached with 24.1 billion dollars.

During this period, there was also an increase in exports in Turkish Lira.

On a monthly basis, there was a noticeable increase in this category for all 5 months.

Turkish Lira exports reached 21 billion 816 million liras in January, an increase of 49.8 percent compared to the same month last year. Imports also increased by 55.7 percent in the first month to 47 billion 864 million liras. Thus, the foreign trade volume in the first month was 69 billion 680 million liras.

In the second month of the year, while the increase in foreign trade in Turkish Lira continued, exports were recorded at 25 billion 161 million liras, an increase of 83.3 percent compared to February of last year, and imports increased by 74.8 percent to 70 billion 556 million liras. The foreign trade volume reached 95 billion 717 million liras. Imports and foreign trade volume in Turkish Lira for this month have been recorded as the highest values in 2024 so far.

Turkish Lira foreign trade reached 92 billion 108 million liras in March. Turkish Lira exports in March increased by 47.3 percent compared to the same month in 2023, reaching 26 billion 313 million liras, while imports also increased by 43.8 percent. Import for the month amounted to 65 billion 795 million liras. Thus, in March, Turkish Lira foreign trade was 92 billion 108 million liras.

In April, Turkish Lira exports reached 22 billion 310 million liras, an increase of 56.1 percent compared to the same month last year, while imports increased by 47 percent to 63 billion 379 million liras. The foreign trade volume for the month was calculated as 85 billion 689 million liras.

Turkish Lira exports last month, May, increased by 71.5 percent compared to May 2023, reaching 27 billion 812 million liras, while imports also increased by 34.3 percent to 66 billion 439 million liras in the same period. Last month, Turkish Lira foreign trade amounted to 94 billion 251 million liras.

Export in Turkish Lira to 164 countries
In the January-May period of this year, exports increased by 61 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 123 billion 412 million liras from 76 billion 665 million liras. Imports also increased during this period from 209 billion 460 million liras to 314 billion 33 million liras, a 49.9 percent increase. Thus, in the first five months of 2024, foreign trade increased by 52.9 percent from 286 billion 125 million liras to 437 billion 445 million liras.

Meanwhile, in May, exports in Turkish Lira were made to 164 countries. 39,925 companies used Turkish lira in their foreign sales.
