The export of 54 items increased during the January-April period.

The Ministry of Trade announced that 17 provinces achieved exports exceeding 1 billion dollars during the January-April period, with exports increasing in 54 provinces. Istanbul became the province with the highest exports in April, reaching 4 billion 75 million dollars.

According to the statement from the Ministry, exports in April 2024 increased by 0.1 percent compared to the same month last year, reaching $19,271 million, while in the January-April period, there was a 2.7 percent increase, reaching $82,873 million.

Istanbul became the province with the highest exports in April, reaching $4,075 million. The city's exports decreased by 6.6 percent compared to the same month last year. Following Istanbul, Kocaeli with $2 billion and a 2.9 percent increase, and Izmir with $1,843 million and a 2.8 percent increase, ranked second and third, respectively.

In Istanbul's exports, precious or semi-precious stones ranked first with $776,999 million, followed by knitted apparel and accessories with $399,609 million, and boilers and machinery with $392,187 million.

In Kocaeli's exports, motor vehicles were the sector with the highest external sales, reaching $760,680 million, followed by mineral fuels and oils with $364,242 million, and iron and steel with $169,599 million.

In Izmir's exports, mineral fuels and oils ranked first with $554,332 million, followed by boilers and machinery with $169,739 million, and iron and steel with $127,397 million.

In Istanbul's exports, the United Kingdom ranked first with $340,313 million, followed by Germany with $294,918 million, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with $252,439 million.

Kocaeli's highest exports were to Germany with $175,891 million, followed by the United Kingdom with $163,268 million, and the United States with $145,063 million.

The top country for Izmir's exports was Romania with $211,176 million, followed by Germany with $165,772 million, and the United States with $118,099 million.

Hatay recorded the highest increase in exports, with a 78 percent increase in April compared to the same month last year, reaching $497 million. In the January-April 2024 period, 17 provinces exported over $1 billion, and 54 provinces increased their exports.

The statement emphasized that the Ministry continues its efforts to increase exports through policies and strategies focused on market and product diversification, aiming for high value-added and competitive exports. It also highlighted the goal of spreading exports across the country to achieve a more prosperous Turkey through increased local production and employment.
