Eastern Black Sea's salmon exports increased by 45%

The Turkish salmon exports from the Eastern Black Sea region during the period of January to May increased by 45% annually, reaching $67,125,019.

Saffet Kalyoncu, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, stated that 12,633 tons of Turkish salmon were exported to 19 countries from the region.

Kalyoncu reported that this export generated revenue of $67,125,019. He noted that compared to the same period last year, the quantity of exports increased by 86% to 6,804 tons, while the value increased by 45% to $46,312,374.

Highlighting the leading role of the Russian Federation in Turkish salmon exports, Kalyoncu said, "The Russian Federation, Vietnam, and Belarus were the top 3 countries in terms of external sales. During this period, salmon worth $42,640,594 was exported to the Russian Federation, $9,663,162 to Vietnam, and $6,711,966 to Belarus."

Kalyoncu drew attention to the fact that $41,626,727 of the regional exports were carried out from Trabzon, stating, "From our province, 7,835 tons of salmon were exported to 14 countries, including the Russian Federation, Vietnam, and Japan, during this period. Last year, 4,848 tons of salmon were exported, generating $32,500,068 in revenue. Accordingly, salmon exports from Trabzon increased by 62% in quantity and 28% in value compared to the same period last year."

Kalyoncu indicated that Turkish salmon exports started the year off well and expressed their belief that exports from the region and Trabzon will continue to increase significantly.
