Sea transport is becoming prominent in exports

According to a compilation based on data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), exports reached 82.8 billion dollars in the January-April period, showing an increase of 2.7% compared to the same period last year.

According to data compiled from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), during the January-April period, a significant portion of foreign trade was conducted via sea transport. The value of exports through sea transport amounted to 47,570,942,000 dollars, which increased from 45.6 billion dollars in the same period last year.

Sea transport accounted for 57.4% of total exports during this period.

Following sea transport, road transport was the next most utilized mode. Export revenues via road transport totaled 27,023,441,000 dollars, representing 32.6% of total exports.

In the January-April period, exports via air transport amounted to 7,311,594,000 dollars, marking a 4.1% increase compared to the same period last year.

Rail transport for exports generated revenues of 569,740,000 dollars during the first four months, while other transportation methods contributed 362,958,000 dollars.

Regarding imports, the majority of Turkey's 113,081,394,000 dollars' worth of imports were conducted by ships, totaling 61,671,935,000 dollars. Road transport followed with 21.4 billion dollars, air transport with 15.2 billion dollars, and rail transport with 809.2 million dollars. Other transport methods accounted for 13.9 billion dollars.
